Association of IT sector employees shall become a member in Union of Professional Engineers in Finland
Association of IT sector employee (Tietoalan toimihenkilöt ry) which represents employees in the IT service sector shall join Union of Professional Engineers in Finland (UIL ry). Accession negotiations have been held throughout the spring. Both parties have a positive attitude to the accession.
The board of Association of the IT sector employees met on Wednesday 10th of August and decided to convene an extraordinary meeting of the association, where the final decision shall be made. The board of UIL ry has already approved the accession.
- This solution shall ensure that our members’ interests are efficiently protected in the labour market, says Chairman of Association of IT sector employees Jouko Malinen
- This decision was contemplated for a long while and all different options to strengthen our labour market activity were considered before making the choice. Although the board is behind the decision, Malinen highlights that the meeting of the association must approve the solution.
Pertti Porokari the Chairman of UIL ry considers the solution to be very successful.
- The accession strengthens remarkably the organisation in the IT-sector and therefore improves promotion of the interests of employees in the IT service sector.
Porokari considers this accession is historical and thinks that several former members will return in the process.
The extraordinary meeting of Association of the IT sector employees shall decide the matter on August 27th 2011 in Helsinki.
